Pelargonium zonale (L.) L'Hér.

Plant height is a defining morphological trait of Pelargonium zonale used for cultivar classification and selecting landscaping purposes.

The classification of Pelargonium zonale by height includes groups ranging from micro-miniature specimens under 10 cm to standard tall-growing varieties reaching 40–50 cm or more. In open-field conditions, individual representatives of the species are capable of growing up to 1–1.5 meters.

Measurement of this index is carried out from the soil surface to the highest point of the main bush or inflorescence. The height of the cultivar directly dictates agrotechnical approaches: compact forms are preferred for pot cultivation, while taller specimens are used for landscaping.

To maintain the decorative compactness of the bush, pinching of the growth point is employed, as without control, many varieties are prone to shoot elongation under insufficient lighting. In seedling production, reaching a height of 17–20 cm is considered an important indicator of the plant's readiness for transplanting.
