The plant has the form of a multi-stemmed shrub or a small tree 4–6 meters tall. The growth rate is about 20–30 cm per year. Spring leaves are carmine-pink or bright red; in summer, the color changes to yellow-green (chartreuse), and in autumn, it becomes yellow, orange, or red.
The variety is adapted to partial shade and hot climatic zones; winter hardiness corresponds to USDA zones 5a–8a (down to -22°C). The plant is suitable for use as a solitary specimen, in mixed plantings, container gardening, and the art of bonsai.
