The variety is the result of crossing the weeping form 'Ishii Weeping' and the dark maroon form 'Summer Chocolate'. The plant reaches 4.5–6 meters in height with a crown width of approximately 3.5–4.5 meters.
The foliage is bipinnate, bronze-green when emerging, and later becomes a rich dark purple color. During the summer period, the tree blooms with fragrant pink flowers resembling powder puffs.
The variety is drought tolerant and suitable for growing in urban conditions. It belongs to USDA hardiness zones 6a–10b. Like the species in general, it can be susceptible to Verticillium wilt and fungal infections.
