The variety is an ancient Spanish landrace and serves as source material for the breeding of a number of other varieties and hybrids. The growing season is 75–90 days. The plant forms bulbs with a reduced content of sulfur compounds, which determines their mild taste. The height of the above-ground part is 30–45 cm.
Intended for fresh consumption, use in salads, and preparation of stewed dishes. With special agricultural techniques involving hilling, it is used to produce calçots. Due to high moisture content, the variety is not intended for long-term storage. Requires well-drained soils and sufficient lighting.
