The variety has flat-spherical bulbs with a diameter of 7–10 cm and a width of 3–5 cm. The average bulb weight ranges from 115 to 150 g. The outer scales are golden in color with reddish-brown tones, and the flesh is white with reddish hues. The plant leaves are upright, narrow, and blue-green.
The onion is distinguished by a very sweet taste and a low content of cysteine sulfoxides. Historically, the variety had poor keeping quality; however, when harvested during a dry summer period, the storage life of the produce improves. It is traditionally used as a salad onion for fresh consumption or for early harvest production.
The variety is the result of folk selection and is included in the Catalog of Local Varieties of Agricultural Interest of Catalonia. Conservation efforts are carried out by local organizations in the Vallès Oriental region.
