The variety is a product of folk selection and is traditionally grown in the vicinity of Osijek and other areas of Slavonia. The variety is adapted to local conditions and is grown using a three-year cycle with the use of sets.
The bulbs are medium-sized and elongated-elliptical in shape, covered with characteristic purple scales. At technical maturity, the onion closes its neck well, which contributes to its keeping quality.
