The plant is usually grown as a three-year or four-year crop and does not form bulbs. Active tillering occurs during growth, resulting in the formation of a dense bunch 15–30 cm in diameter, consisting of pseudostems and tubular leaves.

Starting from the second year of life, the plant produces flower stalks 40–70 cm high with umbellate inflorescences. The variety is resistant to low temperatures. The yield of annual plantings is 20–25 t/ha, and that of two- and three-year-old plantings is 30–50 t/ha.

The variety is a local selection from the region of the former Yugoslavia. The pseudostem and green leaves are used for food. With summer sowing and transplanting in October, harvesting is possible in April.
