The Emerald Isle variety is a bunching onion with good plant uniformity. It is distinguished by an erect foliage type, which facilitates rapid drying of plants under high humidity conditions, and forms a long white stem portion.

The plant is used as a vegetable crop for green onion production. In variety trials, the cultivar was evaluated in the context of resistance to root rots, specifically Phytophthora, and protection against thrips.
