Blauwgroene Herfst variety belongs to the group of autumn leek varieties. The plant has dark green leaves with a flat cross-section. The variety forms a strong, sufficiently thick stem ("shank") of medium height.
The plant is distinguished by high hardiness and the ability to withstand significant temperature drops in late autumn and early winter. Under late-season conditions, the variety is less susceptible to damage, which allows for harvesting when other varieties lose their marketability. When cultivating certain types, there is a possible tendency to form a thickening at the base of the stem.
