The variety belongs to the hardneck garlic group and is classified as Allium sativum var. ophioscorodon. The plant reaches a height of about 100 cm and has broad, linear-pointed leaves about 1 cm wide.

The bulb scales are pink, lilac, or purple in color, and the cloves are arranged in a single row around the scape. The variety forms a scape and aerial bulbils, and is characterized by an intense pungent taste.

This variety is a local landrace and has not undergone industrial virus cleaning. Historically, its appearance in the region is associated with the period of the Danube Monarchy.
