The variety is also known by the names «Štrigon», «Rijav štrigon» or «Stroligo rosso». It is the result of traditional clonal selection maintained in the Slovenian Istria.

The plant has dark green, upright leaves of medium width and length. The pseudostem is characterized by medium width and weak red pigmentation. The best yield performance of the variety is achieved with autumn planting.
