The variety is a winter broad-leaved bolting garlic. The plant is tall, characterized by erect dark green leaves. Harvesting usually falls within the period from July 15 to July 20.
The bulb has a regular spherical shape with characteristic purple streaking on the scales. It contains from 10 to 14 cloves. The variety shows resistance to viral diseases and consistently maintains a compact bulb shape even when harvesting is delayed.
The variety has a pungent taste and is suitable for long-term storage. The Havel variety was obtained as a spontaneous macromutation of this variety.
