Variety description

The plant is a herbaceous perennial forming upright clumps. Stem height varies from 20 to 45 cm. Foliage is medium-green, pubescent, palmately divided and dissected.
Flowers are predominantly carmine-red or red-pink, solitary or gathered in small inflorescences. The flowering period falls between May and July; forms with white petal coloration are also encountered.
The species possesses resistance to Verticillium wilt and is winter-hardy in USDA zones 4/5–9. The plant is used in rock gardens, border plantings, and gardens to attract pollinating insects.
