A distinctive feature of the variety is the unusual color of the heart-shaped, elongated spathe, which changes shade from dark red to dark violet and almost black during the flowering process. The surface of the spathe is waxy, glossy, and reaches 15 cm in length. The spadix inflorescence is usually light, cream or yellow in color.
The plant has large dark green leaves with a glossy sheen and reaches a height of 50–60 cm. The variety is long-blooming; the flowering period can last from February to November. The plant is sensitive to drafts and temperature fluctuations and is demanding regarding the watering regime to avoid root rot.
