The plant has dense branching and reaches a height of 1.5–2 meters with a crown width of about 1.5 meters. The leaves are leathery, bright green, with a vein arrangement resembling an inverted letter "Y"; young shoots have a reddish tint. Flowering occurs between autumn and spring with small white lily-of-the-valley-shaped flowers.
The fruits are round berries with a diameter of about 2 cm, the ripening cycle of which to a strawberry-red color takes about a year. The fruits are edible, contain up to 20% sugar, and are suitable for culinary processing. The plant is characterized by a slow growth rate, drought tolerance, and tolerance to summer heat and winter cold.
