The variety belongs to the population type, rather than modern F1 hybrids. In official European agricultural plant catalogues, it is classified as identical to the Argenteuil (or Argenteuil hâtive) variety.

The plant is traditionally classified as early-maturing. The shoots are characterized by large, succulent stems, which, when grown as blanched asparagus, acquire a white color with a pink hue at the tips.

The variety belongs to the category of heritage varieties and can be used for the production of both blanched and green shoots.
