The perennial aster 'Carmen' is a herbaceous plant about 90 cm in height. The inflorescences are bright pink or pinkish-red in color. Flowering occurs in September–October. The plant prefers sunny locations and neutral, moderately moist soils; it is used in mixed borders and for cut flowers.
The annual aster 'Кармен' is a compact, upright plant 60–70 cm in height. It forms large peony-flowered inflorescences 7–10 cm in diameter, dark crimson or reddish-burgundy in color. The variety is intended for cultivation via seedlings, flowers from mid-August until the onset of cold weather, and is used in flower beds and for cut flowers.
