Variety description

The plant forms a thick bushy habit with a basal rosette of large, deeply palmately-lobed dark green leaves. Flower stalks are sturdy, often dark in hue. Inflorescences are umbel-shaped, 3–5 cm in diameter, with purple-wine colored bracts, the tips of which can be nearly black.

Flowering occurs from June to July; when inflorescences are removed, reblooming is possible in late summer or early autumn. The variety is winter-hardy (USDA zone 4, down to -34°C) and resistant to diseases. Flowers are suitable for cutting, remaining fresh for up to two weeks.

Prefers partially shaded areas and moist, fertile, drained soils. Does not tolerate water stagnation or excessive drought. Used in landscape design for mixed borders, flower beds, and container cultivation.
