The Hetman oat variety belongs to the yellow-grained oat group. According to variety trial data, the variety is classified as early and is included in the recommended cultivation lists in a number of Polish voivodeships.

The primary purpose of the variety is for fodder, although it can also be used in the food industry. The grain of the variety is distinguished by a high total protein content. Studies confirm the resistance of this variety to most isolates of the powdery mildew pathogen.
