The Mirella variety is widely used in Northern European countries and Finland as a marker or control object in experiments. It is used for studying oat resistance to Fusarium and for comparative analysis of mycotoxin accumulation.

In scientific publications, this variety is described as highly susceptible to the accumulation of deoxynivalenol (DON). At the same time, it may exhibit different indicators regarding the content levels of HT2 and T2 toxins, which makes it a significant object for research purposes.
