The variety is a hulless oat with a very low content of residual floral glumes. The plants are characterized by a tall stem and vigorous development, which facilitates effective weed suppression during the initial growth phase. Due to significant stem length, the variety is prone to lodging, especially on soils with high nutrient content.
Talkunar is a spring crop. The variety exhibits resistance to loose smut (Ustilago avenae) and moderate to good resistance to powdery mildew. Grain yield is estimated as competitive for the hulless type; however, careful combine harvester adjustment is required during harvest to avoid the formation of microcracks in the grain.
The grain is characterized by large size and is used for food production, including quick-cooking oats. Grain test weight and sorting indices are in the average range.
