The oat variety Wilma is distinguished by a taller stem compared to modern varieties that have a short and stiff stem structure. The yield of this variety is rated as good.

In agronomic studies, the variety was recorded as being susceptible to powdery mildew. Wilma was also used in breeding work as one of the parental components for creating hybrids when studying genetic resistance to aluminum toxicity.
