The plant is a compact, densely foliated bush 20–30 cm in height. The leaves are dark green, glossy, and leathery. The variety belongs to the Begonia elatior hybrid group, does not form tubers, and is characterized by medium-early or medium flowering periods.

Batik is sensitive to waterlogging and direct sunlight, which causes leaf scorch. The plant requires the use of a loose substrate with good drainage and adapts most successfully to indoor conditions or semi-shaded outdoor locations.
