The variety Balaleika is a historically documented representative of the Begonia × hiemalis group. The plant is used primarily in scientific literature when studying the influence of light regime and temperature conditions on cutting processes and shoot induction.

Detailed morphological characteristics, including plant height or disease resistance, are not described in professional publications. When searching for information, it should be noted that the trade name Balaleika is also used for cultivars of edible honeysuckle (Lonicera edulis), which does not relate to this crop.
