The variety possesses medium vigor; the height of plants in the Elatior group usually ranges from 20 to 50 cm. The flower color of the Balamon variety is described as scarlet or red-orange. The plant's leaves are dark green with a glossy surface.

The plant belongs to the group of medium-early varieties. Balamon is intended for container cultivation as a houseplant, but can be used in landscaping as an annual during the warm season.

Varieties of the Elatior group are sterile hybrids obtained from crossing Begonia socotrana with tuberous forms. The plants are sensitive to waterlogging, sudden temperature fluctuations, drafts, and direct sunlight.
