The Rosalie group begonia belongs to the Begonia × hiemalis Fotsch hybrid group, whose ancestors are Begonia socotrana and various tuberous begonias. This group is used in scientific research, in particular, in the study of photosynthesis processes.
An important morphological and agronomic trait of plants of this group is their low susceptibility to powdery mildew (Oidium begoniae). The plants are grown as a pot crop for interior decoration and seasonal landscaping.
