The plant forms a bush 20 to 40 cm tall and 30 to 50 cm wide. The leaves are heart-shaped, and their color is characterized as dark, almost black, with bright irregular pink streaks or veins.

It blooms with small pink flowers 1–1.5 cm in size, collected in rhizome-like inflorescences; the flowering period occurs in the winter months from December to February. The variety is rhizomatous and belongs to the Rex Cultorum group of ornamental-foliage begonias.

The plant prefers partial shade and an air temperature of 18–22°C, and no lower than 15°C in winter. It requires a nutrient-rich, water-permeable substrate and moderate watering with mandatory drainage of excess water to prevent waterlogging.

The variety is used as a houseplant, as well as for planting in containers on balconies, terraces, or in garden groupings during the warm season.
