In horticultural catalogs from 1933 and 1938, the variety Sedina is described as a begonia with flowers of a bright red or carmine-pink shade, intended for indoor or greenhouse cultivation.

The name Sedina also appears in lists of Primula chinensis varieties. There are difficulties in identifying the variety due to a large time gap between historical mentions and 1989 registration data, as well as the possibility of one name being used for different plant species.
