The plant has a compact dwarf habit with a leaf rosette height of 15–30 cm and peduncles of about 25 cm. The leaves are fleshy, glossy, dark green in summer, and turn purple, plum, or brownish-red shades in winter. The flowers are 2.5–4 cm in diameter and are light pink with a darker center.

Flowering is early, occurring in March–April, and a mature plant forms up to 30 peduncles. The variety prefers semi-shaded areas with moderately moist, organic-rich soil. It does not tolerate drought or sandy soils well, and leaf scorching may occur in direct sunlight without sufficient watering.
