The plant reaches a height of 30–45 cm. The leaves have a shiny, "cabbage-like" texture. The flower stalks are located above the foliage level, and flowering occurs in April-May.
The variety possesses high winter hardiness and resistance to deer browsing. It is used as a groundcover plant, for planting in borders, mass plantings, and containers.
