The roots have an oval or cylindrical-conical shape and yellow-orange color. The variety is a genetically monogerm, diploid, heterozygous hybrid. When submerged in the soil by 60–65%, the roots remain sufficiently clean during harvesting, which facilitates mechanized harvesting.
The variety possesses good resistance to Cercosporaleaf spot and beet yellows virus, tolerates drought conditions well, and is suitable for cultivation on low-quality soils. It shows a low tendency to bolt. An increased carotene content is noted in the composition of the roots, which makes them valuable feed for cattle and horses.
Publications mention both the original variety Krakus and its modern version Krakus Bis with improved characteristics.
