The variety Magnamono (sometimes referred to as Maribo Magnamono) was developed in the 1970s by the Danish company Maribo Seed for industrial cultivation. In comparative trials of that period, root sugar content indicators varied in the range of 16.5 to 18.8%.
In the scientific literature of the 1980s, the variety is primarily known as susceptible to rhizomania. Due to this characteristic, it was often used in laboratory experiments as a bait plant for detecting the rhizomania virus and its vector Polymyxa betae in soil samples.
At present, the variety is considered historical and is not represented in current commercial catalogs, as it has been superseded by new generations of hybrids possessing complex disease resistance.
