The Russian sugar beet hybrid «Volcan» is a monogerm diploid hybrid, which belongs to the N-type, combining yield and sugar properties. The yield of this hybrid reaches about 95 t/ha, and the sugar content is 17.0%.

The variety has medium resistance to Cercospora leaf spot. It shows high resistance to infection by Ramularia leaf spot and root rots.
