The variety is an herbaceous plant with branched stems and bipinnately dissected leaves. It is cultivated as an annual or short-lived perennial.

The plant has a low-growing or trailing habit, reaching a height of 15–30 cm with a spread of 30 to 90 cm. It is used in ornamental gardening for planting in containers and flower beds.
