The variety is a hybrid between black mustard Brassica nigra and wild Ethiopian cabbage. It was bred as a cover crop for soil protection, soil structure improvement, and weed suppression. The manufacturer indicates that the plant must not be used as feed or as a raw material source for biofuel production.

The plant belongs to late-maturing varieties, demonstrates ultra-rapid formation of a dense canopy, and high frost resistance. It is characterized by strong stems resistant to lodging, and the red color of the stems provides natural protection against the cruciferous flea beetle. The variety has high requirements for nitrogen nutrition.
