The Bronowski variety was selected from local Polish populations of spring rapeseed. It is not a high-yielding hybrid for commercial production, but represents value as breeding material.
A key feature of the variety is the genetically determined low glucosinolate content. This trait allowed for the improvement of the feed quality of rapeseed meal and served as the basis for the creation of practically all modern varieties with low glucosinolate and erucic acid content.
