The variety belongs to the double-low (00) rapeseed category, characterized by reduced erucic acid and glucosinolate content. In scientific literature, Bristol often appears as a classic line and control sample, showing susceptibility to stem rot caused by the fungus Leptosphaeria maculans.

In the 1990s, the variety held a significant position in the European market, however, it is currently considered obsolete and is not included in current commercial catalogs of hybrids and varieties.
