The variety forms a large number of leaves. The inflorescences are characterized by a rather flat shape and moderate bumpiness, while having a tendency to form flower stalks inside the head.

In modern practice, the name Beaufort is used primarily for interspecific hybrid rootstocks for tomatoes and eggplants, rather than for broccoli varieties. References to the Beaufort broccoli variety are found only in archival materials from the late 20th century.
