The plant is a product of crossing standard broccoli and Chinese broccoli (gai-lan). It forms many thin shoots with small florets, which have a sweet taste and tender texture. The stems do not require peeling before cooking.

To stimulate the development of side shoots, it is recommended to remove the very first central head at an early stage. The maturation period is about 10 weeks (70 days), and the crop can be harvested over a long period depending on the time of planting.
