The first-generation hybrid Roderik is characterized by a ripening period of 80 to 100 days (or 15–20 weeks) after transplanting. The compact plant reaches 30–45 cm in height and width.

The heads have a dense texture and deep red-violet leaf color. The taste qualities are described as sweet with an earthy undertone. The variety is versatile in use, suitable for fresh consumption, stewing, and pickling.
