The Herfstdeen group represents a historical line or landrace of white cabbage originating from the Netherlands. In the documentation of gene banks, such as CGN, it is separated into a distinct category for the conservation of genetic diversity. There are breeding derivatives of this group, divided by maturity groups into early and late forms.
In specialized databases, this group is treated as a collection of accessions with unique morphology that could not be grouped with other cabbage types, such as Langedijker. Currently, the plant is rarely used in large-scale agriculture and is preserved mainly in seed bank collections for research and breeding purposes.
