The variety belongs to the late category and has been historically cultivated in the Varaždin region of Croatia. The plant forms compact, round-flat shaped heads consisting of thin yellow-green leaves. The weight of the head reaches 2 kg.
The variety is traditionally used for sauerkraut production. Varaždin cabbage has the status of a product with a protected geographical indication, which regulates the use of the name in trade.
