The plant belongs to the Calathea picta group; in modern classification, it is often transferred to the genus Goeppertia, while being genetically closely related to C. roseopicta. It forms an upright bush with a limited number of lateral shoots.

The leaf blade is colored dark green with a silvery-green center. A characteristic distinction of the variety is the absence of pink spots on the leaves, which are typical for a number of other representatives of this genus.

The variety is used exclusively as a decorative potted plant for interior landscaping. The plant is demanding regarding growing conditions, like most other Calathea species.
