The Tass cultivar is a selective breeding outcome within the species Calathea crocata. The plant possesses compact dimensions and a sturdy habit, reaching a height of 30 to 60 cm in indoor conditions. The leaf blades have a dark green upper side and a contrasting wine-red underside.

The main feature of the cultivar is its bright orange inflorescences, which resemble flames in appearance and can remain on the plant for more than two months under favorable conditions. The crop is used as a decorative potted plant that requires a stable temperature of no less than 15°C, high humidity, and diffused light.
