Perennial herbaceous plant with a cushion-like growth habit, reaching a height of 10–15 cm, up to a maximum of 20 cm. Foliage is evergreen, leaves are rounded or kidney-shaped, with a serrated margin.

The variety is characterized by profuse flowering with violet-blue funnel-shaped or star-shaped flowers from June to August. The plant prefers sunny or partially shaded sites with well-drained, moderately moist soil and does not tolerate waterlogging or heavy clay soils.
