The rootstock is used for grafting cultivated pepper varieties to protect against soil-borne pathogens. It promotes earlier harvest maturity in vigorously growing varieties, helps maintain balanced plant growth throughout a long cycle, and reduces scion height.
The plant has high resistance to Potato virus Y (strains 0, 1) and Tobacco mosaic virus (strains 0–3). Intermediate resistance is noted for Tomato spotted wilt virus, Phytophthora root rot, and root-knot nematodes. The rootstock is suitable for spring, summer, and mild winter growing cycles.
The use of the rootstock contributes to improved fruit set, maintaining average fruit weight and wall thickness toward the end of long growing cycles. It is characterized by a moderate plant growth type.
