The rootstock Brutus is characterized by high vigor and a developed root system, which allows it to be used effectively in depleted soils.
The plant possesses high resistance to Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV:0) and Potato virus Y (PVY:0,1,2). Intermediate resistance to Phytophthora blight (Phytophthora capsici) and nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.) has also been noted.
