Diavolicchio is a landrace from the Calabria region and serves as a collective name for local varieties of hot pepper, rather than a single standardized variety. The plant is noted for its compactness, vigorous growth, and bushiness, which allows it to be grown both in open field and in containers.

The fruits are small, 2–3 cm in length, growing in clusters and pointing upwards. Pungency varies from 25,000 to 50,000 SHU, reaching 150,000 SHU in certain variations. The peppers are used fresh, dried for spices, pickled, or used in sauces and meat delicacies such as 'nduja.

The plant is productive and bears fruit abundantly, which sometimes requires the installation of supports. Due to its decorative appearance, the bushes are often grown for ornamental purposes.
