The Oranjeva kapya variety is a breeding material of the Capsicum annuum L. crop. It was obtained at the Institute of Genetics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences as a result of the application of radiation mutagenesis.
The main practical significance of the variety lies in its use in breeding for quality. The fruits are characterized by a high beta-carotene content in the pericarp, which allows the variety to be used as valuable genetic material for the creation of functional food products.
