The variety belongs to the "bull's horn" type with elongated fruits approximately 20 cm long and 5 cm wide, with an average weight of 100–150 g. The plant has an open habit, which facilitates maintenance during cultivation.

Rivato is a mid-season or mid-late variety. The fruits have good keeping quality after harvest. The variety is characterized by high resistance to tobacco mosaic virus (Tm:0–2).
